Rare Sea Creature In The Gulf Of Mexico

Marine biologists were on a deep sea expedition in the Gulf of Mexico when they encountered a rare sea creature called a siphonophore. But this siphonophore had something special about it and that was the color it was.

The siphonophore had a blueish purple color to it.

The creature is not one but several organisms connected together. The organisms are zooids and their job is to make sure the siphonophore can move, breath and eat.

A very common siphonophore is the Portuguese Man of War but there are over 175 different species.
