Marine biologists were on a deep sea expedition in the Gulf of Mexico when they encountered a rare sea creature called a siphonophore. But this siphonophore had something special about it and that was the color it was.<br />

The siphonophore had a blueish purple color to it.<br />

The creature is not one but several organisms connected together. The organisms are zooids and their job is to make sure the siphonophore can move, breath and eat.<br />
<br />
A very common siphonophore is the Portuguese Man of War but there are over 175 different species.<br />
